But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself”-Friedrich Nietzsche. In today's society, it is often frowned upon to be different, this is a very recurring theme found in text. Being different is a good thing and throughout our readings, many writers really emphasis on the purpose and results of doing so. Personally, I believe that distance can mean two things: the physical, measurable amount of space between objects or, separation of something that creates a change and a barrier. Before we developed the ability to know expectations there was nothing that would ever stop us. By removing the wall of those norms there is a straight shot to what you desire and deserve, in this case it is the rare peace of knowing yourself. If you truly want something but you are not succeeding in attaining it, it is likely that you are the problem. Another big expectation that you have when you get older is to be logical. Being logical is very important, it does help you decide morals, big decisions, and much more. But when what you what is something in your heart often it doesn't fit logic around you it's hard. “I think maybe part of what got him into trouble was that he did too much thinking. Sometimes he tried too hard to make sense of the world, to figure out why people were bad to each other so often.” (Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer, page 18) Many bumps come along the journey of retaining anything of value. In my eyes many of those problems occur by over thinking. Having logical thinking is important and beneficial without a doubt, yet it can also be one of the dumbest most damaging things one can do to himself. Thinking is a never ending train of thoughts, when that train reaches a certain point it on the track imagine that it overworks itself. By it doing this it does things it was never meant to do. Similarly your mind will want to keep logically thinking every single point of your journey to finding yourself which results in over stressing. Not everything has to be figured out.
