As our nation has grown, so has the average size of our citizens, which is something that has sparked a lot of debate and needs to be taken care of sooner rather than later. Throughout this document, we will discuss many aspects of obesity such as the causes, solutions, stakeholders, and some of the statistics surrounding obesity in the United States. Missouri ranks in the upper half of all fifty states when it comes to the percentage of those who are obese. There are many causes to obesity such as lack of physical activity, poor eating habits, and others we will discuss as the document continues. Our cities and nation as a whole have a lack of access to healthy foods. Even when they are available, lower-income families don’t have the ability to afford them without breaking their budget. So obviously, something needs to be done to help slow or even reverse the obesity rate in our nation. Almost all of us hold stake when it comes to obesity, as we are the ones with family and friends who are at an unhealthy weight.
