While there were numerous inventions during WW2, I decided to write about the first computer named Colossus, Penicillin, and pressurized cabins for planes because these inventions still have a big impact on our lives today. Colossus was a set of computers created by a team of british code decrypters in 1943-1945. Colossus was known as the first electric, programmable computer in the world. The purpose of Colossus computers was code breaking of high level german communications. British code breakers used colossus to decrypt german messages. These messages in German were encrypted by the Lorenz Machine. The basic idea of how colossus worked was, if it encountered the same letter numerous times it would write on an electric typewriter. The output was analyzed by people who spoke the german language. Colossus was not known until the 1970s because the computers were broken after the war. In 2007 a working copy of colossus was created. Even if Colossus was very crude, it still was significantly important because it helped set a basic foundation for modern computers. In spite of all these risks I have mentioned, WW2 soldiers were only equipped with oxygen mask that occasionally failed. Until 1944 when the B-29 Superfortress was made, nothing was invented. The B-29 Superfortress was a plane that had a pressurized air chamber. The cockpit was covered, but not the bomb bay. Even without the bomb bay protected the crew could still move around. After the war pressurized air chambers were publicly released so the rest of America could have the same comfort as the airforce
