The mixed substances lab’s objective is to see how properties of individual substances compare with properties of mixed substances. A mixture is a combination of two or more substances. A homogeneous mixture is a uniform instructure or composition throughout the substance unlike a heterogeneous mixture which consists of dis familiar parts of elements. The lab’s hypothesis is that when you play with the cornstarch and water mixture it’s a solid, but when it’s left alone it liquifies. However, the Investigating mixtures lab has an objective to observe that not all liquids behave the same way when mixed with other liquids and the hypothesis is that the oil and water won’t stick together, the oil will go to the top.
