Investing In Sprint Corp. And Northern Oil And Gas Inc.

The famous gameshow host Regis Philbin once said, “I’m involved in the stock market, which is fun and, sometimes, very painful” (Philbin). This can be true for many people who choose to invest in the stock market. I recently invested in the stock market, and it was a very interesting experience. By examining my research process and the results from my stocks, I will be able to realize what the stock market has taught me about investing in stocks.
I started my research process by investing into a plethora of companies, and I chose to invest in Sprint Corp and Northern Oil and Gas Inc. After starting my investigative research, I found out that Sprint Corp was offering a special deal in which they were giving up to 50% off of AT&T and Verizon rates to their new customers. I lost money on both of my stocks. I lost $19.20 on my Sprint Corp stock, and I lost $150.28 on my Northern Oil and Gas stock. The major factor that I believe caused my stocks to not do very well is that in recent weeks I have seen the prices on both of my stocks plummet. I believe this could be a stock market wide plummet. I believe this because neither of my stocks are linked together between gas and cell service. A few weeks before my prices fell, the price of Sprint stock was up to almost $9.00, which is approximately seventy cents above the price when I bought it originally. After this rise my stock fell dramatically, and the new price was below $8.00. I also saw my Northern Oil and Gas stock fall below $2.00 during this time, which is something I hadn’t seen during my whole time of reporting on my stocks. These results came as a surprise to me because my Sprint Corp stock was doing well, and my Northern Oil and Gas stock was holding fairly steady. I believed that with just a little push, I would be able to make a nice little profit on my stocks. This did not occur; however, and I lost a total of $169.48 of my
