Many individuals say that a person is a product of its surroundings. And for two young men from Baltimore, this could not be any more accurate. In “The Other Wes Moore” by Wes Moore, the author talks about two young boys who shared the same name and the contributions they did in their lives that made them turn out the way they are. Both Wes’ grew up in similar environment with tough childhood and without the presence of a father. Where one becomes very successful and a Rhodes Scholar, and the other is heavily involved in the drug game and receives a life sentence in prison for serving a part in a murder of a former police officer.
Around 150 years ago, humans started releasing fossil fuels into the atmosphere during the industrial revolution. The ocean takes up a quarter of the gas that surrounds earth by absorbing the CO2 we put in our atmosphere. The documentary dresses the issue of rising acidity levels in the ocean and its effects.

For example, some people have different perspectives about being in captivity. Although “Untitled” by Tupac Shakur and “Thoughts in a Zoo” by Countee Cullen are both about being in captivity, the poems deal with the idea of being in captivity in extremely different perspectives through the use of similes. “Thoughts in a Zoo” deals with being trapped in society by comparing zoo animals to African Americans using similes. For example, the narrator compares activities similar between African American and mole through the use of similes when the narrator said “Some delve down like the mole far underground”(line 13). In this quote, Cullen uses a simile to compare how African Americans and moles react to being in captivity.
In “All Summer In a Day” and “If Only We Had Taller Been” both by Ray Bradbury he illustrates many themes throughout both stories. One theme they both have in common is don’t let anyone get in the way of your dreams. Bradbury does an excellent job of displaying this theme in both stories. While these stories have their similarities they both have their differences. The theme of “All Summer in a Day” is to not let your jealousy get in front of your kindness.
The two stories “Being Prey” and “A Sound of Thunder” they have many similarities and differences between the three topics the following paragraphs will be about. The two stories are comparing the conflicts, settings, and main characters. In the new paragraphs I will be comparing these topics between the two readings. Documentaries may not be thought of as narrative stories like Star Wars (1977), directed by George Lucas and The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), directed by Wes Anderson, but they do follow a classical narrative structure. Fed Up is a documentary made in 2014 that is based on the issues caused by the American food industry. Fed Up, uncovers America’s true secrets about the food people consume every day. More specifically, it reveals the affect sugar has on people’s bodies. As a result, the amount of sugar in food, the bodies consent of glucose, and the satisfying taste it brings, too much sugar could cause certain sicknesses causing the body to not work the way it supposed to. To start off, the amount of sugar put in America’s food is predominately high.

I watched Sound and Fury, a documentary that came out in 2000, centered on the complications of getting the Cochlear Implant, and how Deaf and hearing communities can differ upon the topic. Particularly within one family, brothers along with their wives and parents have a tough time deciding if their Deaf children should undergo such a procedure. They all travel to visit families that are hearing with children who aren’t learning ASL because they have the implant. They visit a Deaf family whose 10-year daughter is the only person in the family to get the implant. They also visit schools focusing on speech to help Deaf children who wear hearing aids and/or got the Cochlear Implant, and visit a Deaf community with a school focused on ASL.
