Is a College Education Worth It?
For decades, the biggest problem for any high school senior is if they should continue their education by attending college or just enter the work force. After they have decided, what school would they or should they attend? But these are not the problems they should not be worried about. It is actually the cost of education, education being received, and employment after graduation. What kid does not have dreams and ambitions of attending college? But the biggest problem that most forget is being able to pay for tuition, room and board, as well as books and supplies for classes. In 1980, the price for one year of tuition for a four year university was $3,499 compared to 2015 with a price of $23,600. (Statistic Brain 07 June 2017) That is $20,101 price difference for basically receiving the same education there parent’s may have received. There is always the option for some who attend a two year college could save money and transfer to that university of choice. Unless they are the type of person who cares more about the name of the school they are attending then the education they are receiving. Then you cannot put a “price” on education.

Is the education they are receiving or received worth the price they paid? Depending on what college attended, sometimes plays a roll on the type of education and skill set they received. Professor Walter Williams of George Mason University said, “Many students who manage to graduate don’t have a lot to show for their time and money”. Which is true, they may not have gotten that job they wanted and are now working a dead end job making $40,000 a year with a four year degree and have an average of $50,000 in college debt. Now if they did get that high paying job then it could be safe to say that there education did pay
