Animals are a huge part of life and the environment. However, animals have been abused and treated wrong for a very long time. People first started thinking of the ethics and cruelty to animals in 1714. It was not pet owners who first wanted to change the treatment of animals, it was the people who worked with agricultural operations. Although there is sometimes a misconception on whether people may think that humans are not animals, they are wrong, and even if it were true that does not lessen the fact that they are important and should not be treated any less than humans. Animals are being killed by humans for the testing of our products. Also, animals not put in the right environment is considered cruel and not healthy for an animal either. To …show more content…

“Each year, more than 100 million animals—including mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds—are killed in U.S. laboratories for biology lessons, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics testing (Peta).” In other words, so many animals are being tested on and killed on the process. Can you imagine the pain and suffer these animals have to go through? You can hear their shout for help that runs through your ears, leading to your spine, causing shivers. “U.S. National Institutes of Health director Dr. Elias Zerhouni admitted that experimenting on animals to help humans has been a major failure.” Since animals do not really have the same genes as humans, many products tested on them might be passed; however, those products would still affect a human negatively even though the animal tested on had no effect. Animals testing does not give one an accurate prediction of how a product might affect us and because of this there is not a dire need to continue
