Atticus is a very complex character in To Kill A Mockingbird. There are two main reasons to dignify him from other people in Maycomb. Atticus is a very calm man especially in a intense situation. Two ways to prove that he’s calm is, Atticus is a good father, and Atticus is a good person. To make Atticus a good father he helps Scout with her problems at school and throughout her life. In the beginning of the novel Scout struggled with her teacher, Miss Caroline. Scout would get in trouble for knowing how to read, so her teacher forbid her to read at home with her father. Scout was devestated with the fact of getting and trouble, but not being able to read with Atticus anymore made it worse. Atticus has lots of wisdom throughout is adventure living in Maycomb. His wisdom has taught him how to teach his children, and teach them the Maycomb way. The other way to explain Atticus are the many features that seperate him from the others in Maycomb. One way to describe Atticus are his old characteristics. Scout thinks that Atticus is old compared to everyone else’s father. Every morning Atticus reads the paper and at night reads to Scout. Like most older adults Atticus wears glasses. Scout notices that most of the other dads hunt or fish. Though Atticus reads and wears glasses which seperates Atticus to the other fathers. A different way to view Atticus is to notice his smart characteristics. Atticus has a difficult job being a lawyer, but you need to be an intelligent person to handle the pressure put on in the job. Being a lawyer for Atticus has put him in many difficult situations for him to be judged by the citizens of Maycomb. Atticus is a well respected man who has many in Maycomb believe in his ways and decisons. Many agree with how he has raised his kids to be and his lifestyle.
