Elvis Presley, better known as The King of Rock and Roll, was a superstar in the 1950s up until he died in 1977. Elvis grew up poor and became popular in 1955 when his recording contract was sold. He lived a lavish lifestyle full of women and money. In 1967 Elvis was given a prescription for opiate, the ultimate cause of his death in ‘77. He was severely addicted to opiates. He died due to a heart attack, caused by major drug abuse and food abuse, as Elvis was on a very unhealthy diet at the end of his life. People, however, don't believe this story. The biggest of all the theories is that Elvis was part of a mob. The story states that Elvis was a part of the mafia and that to escape it he had to fake his death and stay hidden. Gail Brewer-Giorgio stated “Do I know if Elvis is alive today? No, I don’t know, but I know he didn’t die on Aug. 16” in her best-selling book Is Elvis Still Alive (Melissa). She also went on to say that the FBI enlisted Elvis in 1976 to help take down a criminal organization called “The Fraternity''. Elvis volunteered for this project but was soon put into the witness protection program due to the organization finding him to be a mole. There is also a second theory revolving around the pop star's tombstone. Presley's middle name was spelled wrong, skeptics say it was on purpose because he was still alive and to have his name on a tombstone is “taboo” (Melissa). Both sides are very compelling and could very well be true, but I think it's effortless to see that Elvis is dead and has been dead since August 16, 1977. There is too much evidence to say otherwise.
