Many people understandably think that football is just too violent to have around. Most players however, will not suffer major health effects or degenerative brain diseases later in life. Football isn’t too dangerous or immoral to watch or play. There are several other sports that are more dangerous than football. Rugby for example is basically football without pads. Rugby also has a play called a scrum which players from both teams huddle around the ball with locked arms and fight for the ball. Then there is boxing. Boxing is literally just two guys beating the crap out of each other until one is knocked out or through 12 rounds one is declared a winner. Sometimes there isn’t a winner. In golf, a freak golf cart accident could lead to a crowed of people being mowed over resulting in mass death and injury. In synchronized swimming, a diver may dive too far down and bang their head off a wall or the bottom. In baseball, a stray pitch may hit the batter in the face and treat him like how a boxer's fist treats another boxer’s face. The point is that all sports are dangerous. In …show more content…
Take for example Mike Webster a Hall of Fame center for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Webster played in the 1970’s and is considered one of the greatest centers in history. The problem with this however, is that center is arguably the most dangerous position considering that they use their head to block half the time. Webster would end up brinig CTE to the eyes of the football world after he went crazy sold everything and lost all his money and killed himself. It was because of him we found out about CTE and it was later confirmed that this was because of football. Another large case of football and CTE was San Diego Chargers linebacker Junior Seau.
