Two star-crossed lovers die because they can't live without each other. Even though they died tragically, it could have been prevented. Someone was responsible and that person is Friar Laurence. He is a priest that is responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death. Friar Laurence marries the two even though he knows he's not supposed to. There has to be a ceremony and a long process to get married but they don't do that. Then, when Romeo is exiled for the murder of Tybalt, he gives a sleeping potion to Juliet that makes it seem like she is dead. Then leads Romeo and Juliet to kill themselves. Last but not least, he didn’t make sure this plan went smoothly. Friar Laurence didn’t make sure that the letter to Romeo got to him. First, Friar Laurence comes up with this whole plan for Romeo and Juliet to stay together but didn’t do what was supposed to be done for it to go smoothly. Everything would have been okay if he did not make one crucial mistake, he forgot to make sure the letter got to Romeo! In the text it states “Who bare my letter, then to Romeo?---I could not send it”(Romeo and Juliet 5.2. 13-14). Friar was not aware of Friar John’s quarantine and could not send the letter, and neither could his messenger. Also, Friar Laurence should’ve followed up with him to make sure everything was fine, but failed to do so. Friar Laurence could have left everything alone and let Juliet get married to Paris. If Juliet really loved Romeo she would’ve ran to him and had an affair with him while she was still married to Paris. All in all, Friar Laurence is responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths because he didn't make sure his plan went
