PROMPT- Is Grendel really a bad character at nature? Or is he just misunderstood in a way?

It is absolutely intriguing that Beowulf and Grendel are based on the exact same situation. While reading both stories, I have seen completely opposite perceptions of the protagonist, and antagonist.

It makes you almost have sympathy for such a monstrous soul. Grendel reminds me a lot of the Devil. Satan was once an angel in Heaven, but when his greed and self corruption took over his perception, he fell from the Heavens. Grendel on the other hand was once an innocent child, but no one had cared or loved him. When he was stuck in the rocks, warriors considered Grendel a threat as an innocent child. “Grendel tries to speak to the men, but they consider him a threat, throwing darts, with the intent to kill Him.”
In the line “I told Myself, that no one will ever miss one.” He was just a forgotten soul. At the beginning. After Grendel made that wish, I estimate that he transformed into “the flesh eating monster” We know in Beowulf. …show more content…

The story puts Grendel in the position of the obvious antagonist. There is only one problem with that. The story never provides a connecting story to why Grendel had become such an infamous character. How could a human be so evil, that he “evolves into a flesh eating monster?” Beowulf, the protagonist is described as “ Nor have I seen a mighty man at arms on Earth, than the one standing here. Unless I was mistaken, He is truly noble.” The se quotes provide the argument that the author of Beowulf was somewhat bias to the character of
