Homework- is it worth the time? A student is sitting in that hard metal seat watching their teachers lips move, but they don’t hear anything. This kid is too busy thinking about their schedule later that night, “How am I supposed to get my homework done?” Their possibly thinking. They are feeling stressed just thinking about this. The kids should really be thinking “Someday I will be glad I got all that homework done.” Anyone reading this is probably rewinding those words over and over again in their head and thinking “Are you kidding! When will homework ever affect anyone?” That answer is in life. Imagine not doing any homework and then taking a test off the one notes packet you filled out during class. Sure you can study off that note packet, but homework changes it all. Terri Akman from Metro kids quotes Sharon R Stallings in this piece, ‘“Homework is important because it’s an opportunity for students to review materials that are covered in the classroom. You need to practice in order to become proficient.” Says Sharon R Stallings”’ (Akman 1). The reason this quote was intriguing was because this quote was more than true. Homework is what helps kids remember the work that will be on the next test. Tests all throughout life are hard, homework related or not. There is only one way that kids can be sure they are going to ace a test, by studying and doing that homework on time. Children need to understand that the only way to get through that test with an “A” or a check mark in the corner of the page is from the homework they got stressed about a couple nights before. Not only does homework affect a grade from a test but doing the homework is part of the grade to. Kids these days should understand the importance of homework in their lives.
