You could be adopted and not even know. Adoption has been around for around 67 years and yet, many people still don’t know what adoption is or when or how it came to be. The understanding on adoption interracial adoption differs from same race adoption. Should adoption be a thing and is interracial adoption good? Many people like or dislike adoption for many different reasons but a lot of people don’t even know anything about adoption or adoptions history. You will learn about adoption and how it works and how irrational adoption comes into play. You will learn about the benefits of adoption and what it does to help the world. If you understand adoption, you will see how adoption helps more than it destroys. …show more content…

They grow up in a family that you lovingly and selflessly chose for them. Other advantages include having committed parents and a stable home, they have opportunities and resources that you may not have been able to provide for them at your stage in life.Studies show that adopted children have greater health, more one-on-one attention from a parent, are more involved in extracurricular activities, and are as well-adjusted as their peers Overall, adoption can be very beneficial to the mother, the family, and the child in many ways. Now, there are many interesting facts and statistics about adoption and you know know more about the history and some of the many benefits of adoption but, there's still one more question. What about interracial adoption?
Well, the United states citizens completed 19,942 international adoptions in 2007, which went down to 9,319 in 2011 as international adoptions became more restrictive.Thirty-seven percent of adopted children are non-Hispanic white, compared with adoptive parents, 73% of which are non-Hispanic white. “In all, 40% of adopted children are of a different race, culture, or ethnicity than both of their adoptive parents (or their sole parent if there is only one parent in the household)” (Adoption Network Law Center).

While agencies heavily disproved the idea of “race-matching” early in the history of adoption, determined would-be parents chose to adopt children of different races because of their overwhelming desire for a family (America's Adoption Agency). Now I know there are still challenges that come with transracial adoptions, but growing racial diversity in the U.S. may help solve the still-existing narrow-mindedness surrounding these kinds of adoptions. Many modern adoption agencies celebrates any transracial adoption completed through there programs, and there social workers can help you prepare for successfully raising a child of another race. “Because society views of transracial adoption have shifted dramatically, there is a lot of education and resources available to prospective adoptive parents today — making transracial adoption more widely understood and accepted” (America's Adoption Agency). In conclusion, based on the facts and the information, you now know more about adoption and its history, benefits, and transracial adoption and can see how adoption is terrific and helpful decision and not as bad and scary as you might have thought.
