In the beginning of the book, Christopher McCandless is graduating college. Before he took his journey to Alaska, he and his family went out to eat. He excites his parents when he tells them if he has good enough grades, he can get accepted into Harvard law. After having dinner with his family, he goes back to his apartment, trashes everything he owns, and unwisely prepares for his journey. In my perspective, I believe McCandless was inconsiderate and an idiot for his actions.
A hero is a man who shows courage. A man who is admired for his achievements and noble qualities. This does not mean a hero has to be strong or tall. Heroes can come in all shapes and sizes. Johnny Cade is a 16 year old boy that lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with six of his bestfriends called the greasers.
According to BrainyQuotes, Joseph Campbell once said, “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to sometimes bigger than oneself” (Inspirational Quotes). This applies to my grandfather, Charles Jones acts who spent time as a U.S. Air Force firefighter during The Vietnam War. He took action and became a fire chief, but now he refers to himself as an average person; however, due to his service he is a hero. Jones expresses heroism by overcoming the struggles of training. Once he was sent to the US Air Force Recruiting Office at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

:Not many people get the opportunity to significantly shift America’s ways of life with empty hands. Andrew Carnegie was a diligent man who pulled himself up to success, having nothing to offer, but his fascination with the steel industry of America. His vertical monopoly in America’s steel industry helped economically. He gained a fortune and did many great works as a philanthropist. One could say Andrew Carnegie’s righteous acts outweighed his unrighteous acts, but unfortunately, he did not stay true to his proclaimed duty as a man of wealth.
Throughout history people have been judged and treated wrongly for the sake of protecting what the majority believed to be right; which in most cases was what the government and higher power thought. Canada is no exception to this, with the exploitation of the Natives peoples, and how immigrants were first treated stepping into Canada. However, in the twenty first century, looking back through time many cases vary down to what one 's option may be. Especially in the case of Louis Riel, who some believe to be the true hero of Canada, while others object stating he was a traitor who committed high treason. Regardless what others may believe, Louis Riel should be remembered as a hero.
Andrew Carnegie was a hero in some people 's eyes , not so much in others . That’s why everyone has their own opinion. A hero is anyone who makes the right decision to sacrifice for a person in need. For example, without heroes like firemen, wildfires and house fires would spread across the nation, costing lives and loss of worldly possessions. When most people think of a hero, they may think of a fireman, police officer, or a soldier. Although this is true, my definition of a 'hero ' is someone who does something dangerous or brave to save another. Someone who just doesn 't get themselves out of a situation, but they also reach out and try to save the others. There are only a select few people who are brave, compassionate and selfless enough, to spend their days improving the world one act at a time with no regard for personal risk or reward. Frederick Douglass was such a man, and he saved the lives of many slaves.
Heroes put others before themselves and will do anything to ensure that thing’s safety. Many people have either risked their lives or have loss their lives due to trying to save others. An example of this would be the man in the red bandana or Welles Crowther. Crowther was working in the twin towers as planes were crashing into them. Crowther could have ran away from the other people when the planes hit, but he chose not to spare himself, but to save others and sacrifice his own life.
A hero is someone who helps others in a time of need, helps others out of genuineness, and sacrifices their life for others. Joseph Grand is identified as a hero due to relieving suffering out of genuineness. Joseph Grand is a municipal clerk in the town of Oran when the plague hits.
In the end, a hero is more than just physical traits like strength and supernatural powers. Being a hero means being selfless, brave and putting other people before yourself. Victor best fit this description because he sacrificed years of his life, and even his own life knowing it would benefit the rest of the world. The determination, braveness, courage and devotion Victor had for a single experiment that could go wrong is true heroism.
