Macbeth is also one of the most ambitious character as he does many crimes to achieve the power and become the King. Macbeth’s ambition started when the witches told him about the prophecies because of these prophecies he killed King Duncan and planned to kill Banquo. Before Macbeth killed the King, even though he was really ambitious he still thought before killing Duncan this shows ambition in a positive way. However, he still killed King Duncan this shows ambition in a negative way. The first time Macbeth met the witches one thing they said to Banquo was that his son will rule the world in the fear that someone will take his kingship he tried to kill Banquo’s son.
There are stories in literature that have characters that are dynamic, static or rounded and so on. We are going to be talking about dynamic characters and how they change throughout any play and any book. A dynamic characters can change how they feel or they can change by their actions during the book or play. An example is by not helping people at the start, but towards the end, they start helping people with the tasks they need help with. In The crucible, two characters stand out as good examples of dynamic characters.
She wanted to be the queen, and in order to be the king her husband had to be the king. Macbeth did not know if he was going to be the king for sure, but Lady Macbeth was going to stop at nothing to make this happen. Her ambition pushed Macbeth to gain more power in life and over his wife. At the beginning of the story, Lady Macbeth talks down constantly towards Macbeth; she calls him “a coward” and continuously spews hatred towards Macbeth’s masculinity. This sparks Macbeth’s killing spree, as Lady Macbeth’s final question clung to him: “Who dares receive it other, / as we shall make our griefs and clamor roar / upon his death”(I.vii. 89-91)? After feeling empowered and supported in killing Duncan, Macbeth’s personal and selfish need for power grows enormously, which in turn means taking Lady Macbeth’s power away in their relationship.
In play Macbeth, Shakespeare reveals that an individual’s great desire for power will lead him/her to perform consequential deeds that will scar his/her conscience and change the outcome of his/her life eternally. Macbeth is informed by three witches that he is going to become king and this initiates Macbeth’s thought of becoming powerful. Macbeth doesn’t act on his thoughts until he tells his wife, Lady Macbeth, that he could become king. Lady Macbeth is extremely power hungry and does all she can to convince Macbeth to be just as desirable as her. Together, they come up with a plan to murder King Duncan, so that Macbeth can become king like the witches foretold.

MacBeth is the one whom the tragedy is placed on, and because of this it is his story. MacBeth's dynamic character changes throughout the play driving the story forward and showing the theme of visions of power create ambition in individuals. Lady Macbeth is more evil than Macbeth because she forced him to kill Duncan, a man he admires and respects greatly. She was a force of hatred who influenced her husband to act in an inhuman manner by placing malevolent ideas inside his mind. When Lady Macbeth finds out about the three witches prophecy in a letter from her partner, an atrocious deed must happen in order to make the unlikely dream of becoming the king a reality. Throughout the play Lady Macbeth chastised her husband and called him a weak man, when he was hesitant about murdering Duncan. Macbeth falls victim to his wife’s manipulative actions, whereas she is a self-serving woman who can’t accomplish dirty deeds herself.
Those who are weak often manipulate others to do the things they cannot. Shakespeare's Tragedy of Macbeth describes two characters’ desire for power, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Throughout the play, Lady Macbeth displays many facets to her personality. She is such a diverse and complicated character that it is hard to know if she is truly evil or weak. However, no matter how strong and evil Lady Macbeth appears to be to others, her weakness is clearly apparent when she is alone.
Early on in the story it is revealed that Macbeth wants to become the king after listening from the prophecy told by the three wyrd witches. One example is when Macbeth says” Two predictions have come true. The First towards the ultimate goal, the throne!” (1.3.130-135). That proves that Macbeth has a lot of ambition to become the new king and to over throne Duncan.
Lady Macbeth plans to invite king Duncan over for dinner, but really she is convincing Macbeth to murder him. She influences him to kill Duncan because he is the only one standing in the way of Macbeth becoming king. Lady Macbeth plans the killing but convinces Macbeth to do the dirty deed. Lastly, Lady Macbeth is one of the causes of Macbeth’s failure because she repeatedly questions Macbeth’s manhood until she persuades him to make a bad choice. “When you durst do it then you were a man” (1.7.53-58).
How does Lady Macbeth change over the course of the play? Over the course of the play the characters of both Macbeth and his wife Lady Macbeth develop intensively. They share similar ambitions, but it is Lady Macbeth who dares to do unspeakable things to accomplish them. This creates great conflict within Lady Macbeth who does not conform to the traditional female stereotypes of her epoch.
