To continue his family’s name but also assuring he has a lot of power he had to kill King Duncan as shown in Act 2 Scene 1 lines 33-35 Macbeth says “Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand?” this was when he was on his way to murder Duncan. Macbeth also had to murder his companion Banquo and others to keep his ambition going.
Macbeth killed King Duncan and many other people so he would become king. According to the play Lady Macbeth told Macbeth,”When you durst do it, then you were a man; And to be more than what you were, you would Be so much more the man.” She commented on his manhood to manipulate him into making an irrational decision. He took that prophecy seriously and wanted to be king by any means possible no matter who had to get hurt. Macbeth knew his time was coming
He acted because his first prophecy came true about being thane of cawdor. Macbeth is convinced after a talk with his wife he finally decided to kill Duncan. In the end, all he wanted was power. He wanted to rule and be a leader with power. Macbeth got what he wanted but it cost a great amount. He showed no remorse for hurting any of the victims and would have kept committing these crimes if not for Macduff killing Macbeth in the battle. Yes. I do think that Macbeth had thought about being king before he had ran into the witches. I think this because the sergent was telling how Macbeth had killed the Macdonwald by splitting him from the belly button to the jaw. I think this raving of how Macbeth was great for killing this evil person made him feel accomplished and made him extremely happy. Soon after this sharing of news Duncan calls him a worthy gentlemen.

And even though people are responsible for our actions, they may not always be responsible for what made them do those actions. Although in the play Macbeth many people think that Macbeth is the one who is responsible for all the murders it is truly Lady Macbeth because of the influence that she puts on Macbeth and the verbal torment she gave him before murdering King Duncan.
