As young girls, getting a doll was the most wonderful thing in the world. Girls would brag about what doll was prettier or what doll was newer. Although it can be argued that leaving Nora’s children behind was unethical because of the household roles that indicate a woman to only be a mother, her choice to leave motherhood behind was justified and ethical because she too, deserved to be a person.
Some readers may argue that leaving one's maternal duties is wrong due to mothers being the main providers in a household aside from income, however, the mothers must also be qualified to do so.
Torvald brings forward an inner child that tampers with her motherhood.

Girls would brag about what doll was prettier or what doll was newer. You could dress one up, do its hair, and shape them however you please. Never would I have thought that large quantities of women would take the place of the dolls that I left in my childhood. Women's rights have remained a prevalent issue in various societies around the world today. From the right to vote to equal pay, a woman's value has been improved. Unfortunately, that certainly was not the case decades ago. In the early years of civilizations, the roles of women were very little and oftentimes, came with no significance or importance. The standards that were set ensured women were only to be seen and not heard. In A Doll’s House, a play by Henrik Ibsen, where Nora is a housewife who lives a seemingly perfect life with her husband, Torvald, and her children; however, through societal standards, Torvalds childlike treatment, toppled by Nora’s fear of threatening her children's morals, Nora comes to the moral decision to leave all that she knows behind to focus on herself. He called me his doll child, and he played with me just as I used to play with my dolls (3.1074). Nora is talking about how her father had always seen her as a child or a doll. She has never had a mind of her own, she was played with first by her father and soon after by Torvald.
