Sometimes death is better than living. In the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, George and Lennie come to work on a farm after having to leave their old place. Curley is the ranch owner's son so all the men need to listen to him and he has a wife. Lennie has mental problems and does not know his own strength sometimes. When Curley's wife and Lennie are alone they talk together, and Lennie accidentally kills her. Lennie dies at the end of the story. Lennie's tragic death in the ending of Of Mice and Men was justified because he would have been murdered by Curley either way and he died peacefully.
