Photoshop could somehow be described as an application that gives its users the tools needed to design, edit, and even create photos. It is an application that has been widely spread and used by nearly everyone around the universe but not each person is using it for legal actions. It could be interpreted that using Photoshop could somehow create problems as it is allowing people do use it improperly. A lot of people nowadays are arguing whether or not using Photoshop, especially in advertisements, is ethical or not. There are a lot of misconceptions concerning this particular topic, but surely after all the problems caused by Photoshop, using it is wrong. Another reason that makes us believe that the usage of Photoshop is unethical is the fact that it helps in increasing the sales of products that shows fake effect while being advertised. This is an important issue that cannot be ignored as these companies are basically robbing the consumers by trying to deceive them that the product actually works. The very famous company L’Oreal, which is known for being one of the companies that exaggerate the effects of their products using Photoshop, discontinued their mascara ads of the last year. This is because they used Photoshop to exaggerate the effect of their mascara, which was considered as misleading. (Edwards, 2013). This makes it easier to prove that Photoshop usage is unethical. In the eyes of many people, Photoshop is considered to be ethical. This is because they believe that this application is just a tool used for editing pictures. They say that there is absolutely no problem to try and enhance the product or the effect of it in order to make it more desirable and appealing in the eyes of the consumer. In addition to that, many advertisers believe that all the editing being done to the advertisements is already known and could be detected by the public. According to Jezebel editor-in- chief Jessica Coen, “ Every day a young woman somewhere sees one of these overly polished pictures for the first time ... and has no idea that they're not real ... And maybe she doesn't have someone in her life to point out that this is complete and utter bullshit." This means that we still have innocent people who have absolutely no idea of the application and what it could do
