Is Spanking Allowed in America?
I was born and raised in Vietnam with Vietnamese culture and ideas while my husband was born and raised in the United States of America with an almost complete opposite set of ideas and culture. When we married, we knew there would be some problems and one of the biggest problems is how to raise 2 year old child who is the poster child for “terrible twos”. I want to discipline my child by spanking her to teach like I was raised in Vietnam by my family. However, my husband said that it is frowned upon in America and does not like it when I spank our child. So I wanted to do research paper on best way to discipline children in America. Virtually all of the articles which I found and read, are I shouldn’t spank my daughter with any reason as I want to be better for her or I love her. They gave me to know the causes and effects of spanking or the benefits of no spanking.
On major advantage of no spanking is the children will grow up better, happier and has healthy lifestyle than the children will be spanked. The parents thought that using spanking is help to control the children when they do wrong. As Dr. Jared Pringleton explains in Time magazine article in 2014 called “Spanking can be an appropriate form of discipline.” His inspiration was NFL player’s Adrian Peterson’s charges of abuse on his 4 year old child and the over the debate on spanking.
