Stevenson inserts several points of view during the development of the story, in order to convey his message that duality exists in all human being and that both sides should be known. Stevenson starts the story with the third-person point of view of the lawyer Mr. Utterson. This point of view is extremely limited because he can only tell what he sees and what he hears.
