How Young is too Young to Climb Mount Everest?
In 2010, 13-year-old Jordan Romero, became the youngest to climb Mount Everest. However many climbers were not pleased with this achievement, they believe that it was very reckless to allow someone so young to do something so dangerous. There should be no age limit to any thing only limit in skills because recently in 2016 a 13-year-old girl also surprised people, regardless Everest really isn't a big deal and and is only about money. Everest is the tallest mountain, standing at a breathtaking 29,029 feet above the sea. Everest only has a death rate of 1.34% which may sound like a lot, but is extremely low for mountaineering standards. There are many more technical climbs in the Himalayas with much higher death rates such as Annapurna with a death rate of 38% or even K2 the world's second largest mountain with a death rate of 10%.
Another hard climb is Meru just west of Everest just recently three climbers just made a first ascent of twenty before them. These men are climbing professionals and it took years of planning and training and two attempts to send the summit. They started with Everest the hook to mountaineering and moved to the hardest climbs of the world and setting records and legacies, that is the spirit also runs through Jordan Romero. Nobody should tell him he can't because he's ‘too young’. Another thing about Everest is the way it's set up. To climb the mountain comes to around $35,000 so not only do you have to have the experience to climb but you also need the dough. A permit alone starts at $10,000 and on top of the $35,000 you need gear, sherpas, and an at-base guide. Climbing Everest no longer represents the great accomplishment like it was but to see who has the most money and be willing to pay to make there dreams come true and for Jordan it was worth any
