Abstract Introduction Isaac Newton was one of the most influential scientists of all time during the 17th-18th century and during the time that he was alive he has been credited for many theories and laws of physics that still hold true today and are used as bases for further invention and discovery. One of the Laws that he pioneered was the Law of universal gravitation and this is stated as: The law proposed by Sir Isaac Newton that expresses the force of gravitational attraction between two bodies as a function of their masses and their distance. Expressed mathematically, F=Gm1m2/d2 where F is the force in Newtons, m1 an m2 are the masses of the bodies in kilograms, G is the gravitational constant, and d is the distance between the bodies …show more content…

The difference with his theory and others was that he was able to provide accuracy to the theory and prove it with more stable evidence. His theories were also built upon by others, most notably, Albert Einstein who used Newton’s Law to then develop his own theory of general relativity. Newton’s Law also has a resemblance to Coulombs law as they both use inverse square laws and differ with gravitational constant and electrostatic constant. Newton’s law of gravitation Newton is responsible for many theories but the one that is being explored in this research is his law of gravitation. Newton himself did not fully come up with the law but instead he did bring many scientists work together into one piece of work published in his book Principia. One of the scientists that he took his work from was Galileo who was later given the title of “Father of Modern Science”. Galileo’s input into Newton’s Law of Gravitation was that Galileo has said that the speed of a falling body was independent of its weight and proved this by disproving previous beliefs that if you drop a 2-pound rock it will have a speed and if you drop a 1-pound rock it will have a speed half that.
