Paragraph (written in complete sentence/correct paragraph format): In this novel two questions rose from the pages. My first question is, why would Isabel be so rude to Colie? The main reason that she is so rude to Colie is because she is jealous of her. She is jealous of her mother, “I’m sure your mom can afford to send you to a professional” (Dessen 26). Colie just lost 45.5 pounds and is still self-conscious about her appearance. She has a lip ring and dyed black hair. Isabel thinks that her lip ring is disgusting and she can’t believe how much confidence someone has to have to wear her hair like that. My first theory is that she was too busy. Colie’s mother had a world tour for her line of fitness videos and techniques. Colie was not exactly happy to be away from home the entire summer, but she had no choice she could not stay home all by herself. The second theory behind why her mother sent her away is because they are not close anymore. A couple of years ago Colie and her mother were extremely tight because they lived out of the same car.
