In the short story “The Fall of the House of Usher” by Edgar Allan Poe, the story’s theme is very important. The story’s theme is that “Isolating yourself from the world can cause mental problems” (pg 148). This short story is a good example of how isolation can lead to problems over long periods of time. For example, the story says that Usher is “ill in his body and mind” (pg 150). In the story, Roderick Usher requests the presence of his long time friend (pg 150); however, by the time he messaged his friend, the damage was already done.
