Israeli and Palestinian women are two very different yet very alike woman. Both women face similar yet different struggles. This essay will take a look at two communities and see how through religion, education, gender and politics those women and their experiences differ and are alike at certain times. In the Book Three Mothers Three Daughters we were introduced to Marianne who stayed away from politics because she works as a professor in Jerusalem and is afraid that if the Israeli government doesn’t like her views she will get fired . Women took part in major parts of the movement, aside from demonstrations women also took part in hijacking, they were arrested next to the men and they were even tortured in prison as the men were . Women earned respect from the men for their efforts. The woman movement was strong in the Arab Palestinian community however they focused more on national issues rather than women issues. These women are focused in creating a Palestinian state and assume that once the Palestinian state is created they will be equals to the men in the new Palestinian state, however, as history has shown these women are probably not going to be treated as equals.
