The issues that takes place in women’s prisons are unknown to the outside world. Orange is The Black views everyday problems that occur on prison grounds that are uncommon for an outsider to know about, many are very creepy but yet entertaining to the viewer. The main character Piper Chapman is sentenced 13 months in prison due to the trafficking of drug crime that she had committed 10 years ago which has caught up with her in her early 30s. Although she is awaiting trial, drug trafficking can lead you to up to 10 years in prison. Prison is a place where individuals go who participates in any criminal activity/misconduct. Women in prison are vulnerable and often took place as weak with rise hormones which makes them sexually frustrated and they tend to take those matters into their own hands by flirting with security guards. Many prisoners get sexually assaulted in prison than out of prison. Mendez is a crooked security guard that breaks the rules of the prison often. He smuggles in illegal substances to take advantage of the female prisoners he’s responsible for keeping safe, he lets them have oral sex and other kinds of sexual activities in order to please their drug addiction. It is a crime to smuggle drugs and Mendez soon faces an issue when he forces a teen heroin addict to give drugs to the other inmates. He locked the inmate up in a closet because he was scared that she would tell on him because she wanted to take the drugs out of the prison by overdosing on the heroin and commits suicide while being trapped in the closet.
