In the book ‘IT’ by stephen king, the main character, Bill Denbrough, changes through the story. This is caused by the evil force known as, It. IT is an interdimensional being that takes the form of what you are most afraid of.
In the beginning of the story, we are introduced to the death of george, Bill’ brother. Before Georgies death, Bill and georgie are making a paper boat. He is described as being a smart kid. He loves to write stories and he has a typewriter in his room. It is also described that Bill is a A student. We can also make the inference that he is happy. Him and george are making the boat and laughing with each other, and calling eachother names out of fun, even though Bill is sick and coughing constantly (10). Bill also has a bad stutter. It is so bad, that kids in school call him ‘Stuttering Bill’ this doesn't seem to bring bill down though. Bill also portairs bravery a lot through the child story of the book. Bill and the losers club go down to the sewers to fight IT. The losers club is group of kids that are considered ‘outcasts’ that all hang out together and have seen IT. Once they supposidelly defeat IT, Bill and the losers club swear to come back to finish it off if IT ever comes back. This is the first time we see Bill happy since George’s death. IT comes back to derry every 27 years. So 27 years later, IT returns and kills a young girl. One of the losers club member, Mike, Make phone calls out to every member of the club. This include Bill. Bill had learned to control his stutter, but once he got the call from Mike, his stutter came back, and it was worse. He stutters whenever he is afraid, so from this we can infer he may have lost some of his bravery after defeating
