In It ends with us, Colleen Hoover addresses the inevitable consequences of the willful ignorance of society. She states how the desire to "not think" would create a devoid of responsibility. This novel by Colleen Hoover shows different themes throughout the book, such as generational cycles, emotional abuse, physical abuse, jealousy and its relation to rethinking what defines love in a relationship. Throughout this novel, it is obvious there are deep themes of generational cycles reviled within the mail character, Lily Bloom and her parents. As Lily is in her relationship with Ryle, her relationship mirrors the abusive relation her mother and father had. Lily had been exposed to the darkest side of love firsthand. Even though she never imagined she would end up in the same position as her mother. Lily went through her whole childhood trying to protect her mother. Now she has no one to protect her.
When reading It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover, you begin to wonder if you are one in an abusive relationship and if so, why don’t you just leave them? Well, if you think about it, it is not as easy as it sounds. “Just because someone hurts you doesn’t mean you can simply stop loving them. It’s not a person’s actions that hurt the most. It’s love. Blooms says in the book. This is one of the main reasons women can not leave. This initial thought of “i love them I can't leave”. After falling in love with someone you can not bear the thought of them not being in your life. Women would rather suffer through the pain that
