What could Ralph and Jack be represented in the Lord of the Flies novel? Lord of the Flies is a novel by William Golding, it is a book that compare humanity and society. It is about a group of boys who got stuck on an island due to a plane crash. They know it is an island and they know that there are no adults on the island to take care of them, they have to take care of each other. They all come to an agreement that they have to have jobs assign to them and to keep themselves organize. After a few weeks or months on the island some of the boys start to lose civilization and start to become savages. As the matter of fact, Ralph obviously made a better leader. He might not have the experience that Jack have as a leader, he still know how to control his group with kindness and organization. Jack have experience as a leader because he was a captain of a choir boys group but he does not know how to properly lead a tribe. As for Ralph, he has equality in his control, “I’ll give the conch to the next person to speak. He can hold it when he’s speaking” (Golding 33). Ralph listen to his people while Jack listen to his instinct. He does not want to give power to anyone, while give give everybody a fair chance to say what is on their mind and the problems they need to fix. On the other hand, Jack is very opposite from Ralph, “The sound of the inexpertly blown conch interrupted them. As though he were serenading the rising sun, Jack went on blowing till the shelters were astir…” (Golding 125). He listen to his own instinct, he does not want to be with Ralph’s tribe and follow his order. Jack have a huge desire for leadership and by getting the conch he wanted to steal the power from Ralph. With the personality and leadership that they have, their relationship with other is also very
