Most people think Jack London was a nature faker in his books, White Fang and The Call of the Wild, but he was not. A nature faker is an author that has been accused of humanizing animals which he surely was not doing. Jack London was a great writer that actually understood that animals had feelings way before the technology we have today. This claim has many types of evidence like the following: “How Smart are Dogs” by NOVA, “How Smart is a Dog Really” by Jeffrey Kluger, “Yes, Animals Think and Feel” by Simon Worrall, and “Nature Faker Controversy” by Ralph H. Lutts. This is important because with all this evidence, one can prove anyone wrong if they believe Jack London was a nature faker.
Feeding the Wolf by Greg Cantrell is about John B Rayner Texas Politician who was born in North Carolina to parents Kenneth Rayner and Mary Hicks who were mixed race. He was a Texas politician who believed that the civil war was what put an end to Slavery. Rayner was born as a slave in 1859 father of Rayner a slave as well and a man from Raleigh North Carolina later was known as leader of nativist anti-immigration. Although prejudice existed against African Americans during this era Rayner was able to rise to public prominence during the other half of the 19th century in Texas. John B Rayner was a politically impassioned politician who exceeded the expectation society extended to African Americans.
The Call of the wild was a great book,It showed great detail and wording. It was a very emotional book with john and manuel and buck and the other dogs. When spitz and him were fighting the author showed great detail. It was like we were pulled into the scene of the fight. It a great book to read inwould requemend this for younnger childern who like animals orgfight for animals scaces.

In my project, I depicted the symbolism of Jack and the pig in William Golding’s Lord Of The Flies. In the beginning, Jack names himself a hunter; this illustrates the savage side of human nature. As the novel continues, and the desire to hunt and kill increases, and Jack finds himself not only a hunter but also feeling like he is being hunted. This change represents how fear overpowers hope and fuels the dominance of savagery. In the end of the novel, Jack turns from hunting pigs to hunting Ralph.

While this book depicts Ralph and Piggy as the most civilized characters, and Jack and his hunters as young English choir boys, their actions reveal that they all have the capability to act violently. While Jack and his hunters started out as just choirboys, they become obsessed with violence and are driven to kill. At the beginning of the book, Jack hesitates and misses his chance to kill a trapped pig. Later on, as Jack and his newly formed tribe hunt in the forest, they discover a sow.
The novel, The Old Man and the Sea, is a story about an old man, Santiago, who experienced great adversity but did not give up. The author, Ernest Hemingway, describes how an old man uses his experience, his endurance and his hopefulness to catch a huge marlin, the biggest fish he has ever caught in his life. The old man experienced social-emotional, physical, and mental adversity. However, despite the overwhelming challenges, he did not allow them to hold him back but instead continued to pursue his goal of catching a fish with determination. Santiago’s character, his actions and the event in the novel reveals an underlying theme that even when one is facing incredible struggles, one should persevere.

Similarly, in the novel “the old man and the sea” Hemingway depicted several themes related to nature, people and so on. However determination can also be one of the theme for the readers because the old man, Santiago didn’t gave up fishing even if he had cramp but he took this as an encouragement in his old age.
London began publishing in 1899 in Overland Monthly. The Call of the Wild brought London fame and fortune. It was considered his best book of all, a masterpiece. He published over 50 books in a 16-year span.
In the novel The Old Man and The Sea, written by Ernest Hemingway a credible author, the use of figurative language was not sparse. Figurative language enhances the story line and makes the book interesting and detailed. The most notable uses of figurative language were similes, metaphors, personification, idioms, and hyperboles. Similes are described as a comparison using like or as. We found many examples throughout the text.
In Alice Munro’s story “Wild Swans”, Rose is imagining things that may confuse people into thinking that she is being sexually harassed. Rose is a young girl who rides on a train for the first time and is seated next to an old man. She feels the old man 's hand on her leg in a disrespectful manner but it is all in her head. It is proven that Rose was only imagining the old man’s hand on her leg in a sexual manner in the since of: her own desire of wanting pleasure, the old man 's kindness and age shows that he is blameless, and lastly pressure shows that what she was feeling was a ten dollar in her pocket not a hand. Rose wants to be “Pounded, pleasured, reduced, exhausted”.
Hemingway presents the elements of failure and suffering in The Old Man and the Sea by depicting several instances of suffering and failure which the Old Man, Santiago, has to go through throughout the course of the novel. According to Hemingway, life is just one big struggle. In the beginning of the novel itself, The Old Man, is presented as a somewhat frail old man who is still struggling with his life as well as his past failures. His skiff even had a sail which bore great resemblance to “the flag of permanent defeat”, with its multiple patches all over.
