What is the Yukon? It is an incredible force of nature that is unforgiving and impartial , it showed no favoritism and it shows no mercy. To build a fire is a short story written by Jack London that focuses on the Yukon and the harsh reality behind it. What the main theme being survival london depicts a world where winter wishes to snuff out of life. Order to fully understand the author's writing in Kelvin further and understand the relationships between living things such as ,fire ,humans, and the wolf in the Yukon . The relationship between the Yukon and wolf was a primordial and simple relationship which can be described in one term ,survival of the fittest. The wolf was one of the few animals that was able survive in the Yukon,in the case of the wolf whatever means necessary to survive. London writes" it knew, where there were the other food providers and fire providers." He implies that in the novel the wolf has learned that humans can create fire, the wolf instinctively seeks humans in order to survive. It is assumed that the wolf does not have the necessary intelligence to grasp how cruel the yukon truly is. Humans would you do you come as an oppressor, because unlike animals animals they have the intelligence to understand the cruelty of the Yukon.
