Many people say dictators use fear and desperate times to gain power. In Golding's novel, “Lord Of The Flies” in many ways Jack's persona is almost dictator-like. To begin, Jack rises to power when he sees the other kid in despair. “but we meat” (p.54) Jack being the catalyst did what the littles asked for. Just like Hitler, Jack makes himself seem like a savior or a Christ-like figure by promising meat and security to children. “I got you meat” (p.74).
