Jackie Robinson went to Hawaii in 1941 to join the semiprofessional football team, the Honolulu Bears. After the season had ended, Jackie then intended to be a running back for the Los Angeles Bulldogs. But the Japanese attacked Pearl harbor at this time and that interrupted and unfortunately ended Jackie's football career. Jackie wasn't a good football player. He was a great football player.
In December 1956 Jackie was traded to the New York Giants but never played a game. He retired on January 5, 1957. Before Jackie retired he became one of the highest paid athletes in Dodgers history. After Jackie was done playing baseball, he went into business and worked as an activist for social change. He became a vocal supporter of Martin Luther King Jr. through the years of 1950-1960’s.
He played Second base. In 1997 the Number 42 was retired from baseball. In 1942- 1944 Jackie was a second Lieutenant in the Army. He was arrested for not giving up his seat in 1944.
In October 1925 Branch Rickey signed Jackie for the Brooklyn Dodgers. In college Jackie played baseball, football, basketball, and track. The umpires, pitchers, players, and even players on his team all got angry about the idea. Jackie Robinson died in 1972. Every MLB team retired his number.

He was on trial because a few officers were working a vengeance against a uppity black man. Several months later, Robinson received an honorable discharge from the army. In 1945, Jackie Robinson played shortstop for the Kansas City Monarchs in the Negro League.
