Who?- Jackie was the first black person to play in the MLB( Major League Baseball). In 1947 Jackie played his first year of baseball and won rookie of the year. In 1949 Jackie won the MVP award. In 1955 Jackie and his team won the World Series. Jackie was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1962. In 5 at-bats Jackie hit a three run Homer, and three singles. People called him the Most exciting player. Because Jackie played he made integration go to other sports when he joined the MLB. White players began to leave the league because of black players. Jackie was a good baserunner. Jackie Robinson faced discrimination in his days in the Military. The league was segregated into the White leagues and the Negro leagues. He played Second base. In 1997 the Number 42 was retired from baseball.
In 1942- 1944 Jackie was a second Lieutenant in the Army. He was arrested for not giving up his seat in 1944. Jackie Robinson new fought in WWll but he pretty much in a war with civil rights and stuff like that. Even the old first lady Michelle Obama said that Jackie was brave enough to serve our country, while he was getting treated badly.

Where?- Jackie Robinson grew up in Pasadena California. He went to UCLA for college and played baseball. Jackie was born in Cairo, Georgia. Jackie died in North Stamford, Connecticut. Jackie Played baseball in Brooklyn and Played for The Brooklyn Dodgers.

postage stamp. Jackie had a lot of courage to go into the major leagues as a black man. He got bullied and made fun of, he was treated badly because he was black. Jackie made it so that any black player that is good enough can be in the major leagues.

Some Examples of good black players: Mookie Betts, Addison Russell, Carl Edwards Jr., Jason Heyward, Austin Jackson, George Springer, Lorenzo Cain, Giancarlo Stanton, Dee Gordon, Khris Davis, Howie Kendrick, Andrew Mccutchen, Josh Bell, Josh Harrison, Dexter Fowler, etc. They are all great players that are black. If it wasn’t for Jackie Robinson then those players might not have been able to play baseball. Jackie was the one who made baseball a great sport because the great players that are black make the game of baseball very exciting to watch.

Why?- Jackie Robinson retired from the MLB because he got traded to the New York Giants, but never played a game with the Giants. He was famous because he walked out onto the field and then was the first black player. Everyone was very sad when he had retired because of how exciting and talented he was when Jackie was playing
