One of the most favorite baseball players in history is Jackie Robinson. In 1947 Jackie Robinson started playing for the Brooklyn dodgers. Even though there wasn't a rule against African Americans playing Major League Baseball, he still received racial discrimination from the league and baseball fans. African Americans didn't have very many rights. Without a doubt he had to fight for all of his rights to be an equal individual. At the same he couldn't physically fight for what he wanted. He had to verbally speak his mind without violence. Which is an agreement he made with Branch Rickey to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Jack Roosevelt Robinson was born in Cairo, Georgia on January 31st, 1919. He was born in the time of discrimination. Jackie was named after Theodore Roosevelt who died 25 days before Jackie was born.
