I read The Motivation with Malik Jackson the defensive lineman for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The article started off by describing the learning lessons and the emotions of being a new dad. He described just having a baby and embracing taking care of his daughter. I felt initially he displayed with external regulation because his behavior was not self-determined it seemed to me he was motivated by external motivations, but as I continued to read the article I changed my mind and came to the conclusion it is identified regulation. His behavior seems to be motivated by doing his best and grabbing his opportunities when he is at his most highly valued point in his career. He also described his career goals and achievements in football as wanting to be the best example and a leader in his career.
The Contextual motivation for his work/sport and social profile in this article describes him as being excited to be a new dad and being the best at playing football and the best dad. The game of football takes a collaborative effort to achieve a group win and he was able to demonstrate it at the highest level by achieving a Super Bowl win in the NFL. He also mentioned that his family is a great motivation to go out and work hard to be the best he can be.
The Situational motivation was tied in very well to the contextual and global motivation. I found that Malik is very motivated right now with being a dad. He describes it as taking his potential as a pro athlete to another level. But I found other motivational facts from the article and it seems that he has many mediators as well such as being a good family man and raising his daughter to the best of his abilities. I also think that his hierarchy levels could be motivated by him being a free agent and being paid very well to be a successful pro
