The main character Jamal Wallace in the movie “Finding Forrester” tried to blend in the commencement, but once he was given the chance he showed his true potential. Although he is feeling like he is not welcomed nor worthy of being in the situation he is now because of what friends, peers, and teachers do and say. Constant conflict with his skin tone, growing up in the Bronx, and his potential stirs up threw out the movie.
William Forrester someone who came to be a great friend of Jamal's also caused him to feel dragged down as well. William foster was a man with many words, who also kept to himself. For example when Jamal asked Forrester why he is a legend at the school and Forrester shouted “The purpose of a question is to obtain information that matters to you”. He is the kind of person who at the time would be scared if a black man from the Bronx could know and do so much. He felt that Jamal seeing the circumstances could not be as brilliant as what he turned in. So he continuously looked for any way to say Jamal was a cheater. The moment that Jamal took a stand after being told “Perhaps your skills...do extend a bit farther than basketball.” he showed Crawford he could keep up finishing quotes the professor would say and saying the person whom the quote was from.
