On his way for a corporate appearance at U.S. Open 2015, Blake saw five white officers rushing to him as he made his way out of the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The once-ranked world no. 4 tennis player even stated that the officers were not wearing any police badges in their uniforms. For 15 minutes, the 35-year-old Blake was facing the ground and handcuffed by the said cops before finally being released. According to the officers, the former tennis superstar was mistaken for somebody else involved in a case of identity theft. The white cops quickly released Blake and apologized. After the ordeal, the former U.S. no. 1 tennis player was left with a cut on his left elbow and bruises on his left leg. When asked about the reason behind the mistaken identity, the tennis star assumed that it was probably racial profiling. Whatever the reason though, the former world no. 4 tennis player insisted that there is no good reason to do such a sudden and mistaken act to anybody.
