His family lived in extreme poverty. When he was about four, he moved to Augusta, Georgia to live with his Aunt Honey (Bio.com). When he was released from prison he looked to sports, as he was a gifted athlete. He spent two years boxing and playing semipro baseball to keep him out trouble.
