From the numerous opportunities I may have, to the galvanizing escapades I can go on, UW Madison has the qualities, characteristics, and programs that define what an ideal college should possess. Last summer, my friends and I went on a college visit to the University. Ashley, our tour guide, exploited features that made UW Madison so special: the friendliness of staff and attending students, their academic programs, admission to any campus, housing, the Gordon Dining Hall (meaning you're never far from food), and the most delightful, ice cream! However, while these qualities that UW Madison attained made them a reputable public school, there were two qualities that made them outstanding, qualities that separate it from other schools: their academic excellence and welcoming atmosphere.

James father who was also named James was a wealthy planter and owned thousands acres of land and over dozens of slaves.

Jackson, also called “Old Hickory” was a very bold proactive man in American history. From being a military hero and founding the democratic party to enacting the trail of tears and dismantling the of the Bank of the United States, the man and his legacy are a prominent topic for scholarly debate. Some believe he was a great president and some believe he was the worse president. But if you look at it from a moral perceptive or in the eyes of a foreigner, Jackson’s legacy was far more villainous than heroic.

I absolutely loved my internship, my volunteer work, and my leadership role. I learned through these experiences that even the smallest person may make a difference in their community. I know this sounds a little cheesy, but it’s true. In my leadership role with the Campaign to Keep Guns Off Campus, I worked to engage students in the importance of lobbying their local elected officials. It is my job to train and create the materials that will be used when lobbing the state congressional members.
I will not lie to you UNC Wilmington was not my first choice of schools, I was the kid who wanted to get out of the area and explore. My dreams originated elsewhere in big cities living in the fast lane and no turning back. I felt this way all of the way up until about two weeks ago, this was when I realized everything I want and or need in life is right here in Wilmington. Love also played a big factor in my decision to want to attend UNC Wilmington but a love much more than that of any significant other this love is for my school. I attend Heide Trask High School, it is very small and the athletics are very lack luster at best.
It offers clubs, classes, activities, and programs that I believe are essential to becoming the best version of myself. All my life I have been surrounded by the HBCU communities within each of their schools. I have found it being comforting, a grand lifestyle and most importantly an opportunity to be successful. My cousin who attends Morehouse College inspired me. The second reason that influenced me was that I found out that HBCUs offers many academic programs just like most colleges and universities.
James Buchanan was born in Cove Gap, Pennsylvania, on April 23, 1791. He was the son of Irish immigrants who had made a successful life for themselves as merchants in rural Pennsylvania. The Buchanans could afford to send James to good schools, and after graduating with honors from Dickinson College, James Buchanan studied law. His legal and political careers moved forward together. Becoming a successful attorney, he advanced from state legislator to national figure, including membership in both houses of Congress, ambassadorships, and a cabinet post.
On Wednesday October 5th Luther students and faculty came to Valders room 206 to participate in an Escalation workshop to promote domestic violence awareness. Much in accordance with October, which is domestic violence awareness month, Luther College’s Counseling Services along with Student Life helped hosted the Escalation Workshop from the One Love Foundation. The Escalation workshop was a workshop for students in particular to gain tools in understanding differences between healthy and unhealthy relationships, to recognize warning signs of relationship violence and learn ways to safely intervene to help others in unhealthy relationships.
Moreover, my sophomore year I was able to better see how cliques are still forming. Being a mentor I am able to see how everyone is doing individually and see how he or she seem to connect with other residents. The first week was difficult because students who went to school with each other and are family members joined the program together. This left students who came to Towson with a blank slate outside of the friendships or connections that could have been formed.
South Seattle College (SSC) offers a tremendous number of activities and volunteer opportunities for students who would like to become more involved with the community. As a student who has decided to major in art, I strive for all of the experience and learning opportunities related to that. At SSC we have created the Art Gallery where students and faculty are able to present their art during arranged shows and open hours throughout the day. As a member I would help with setup before shows, along with leading discussion with audiences presenting students work. It is an honor to not only have the chance to view others art and help engage the community with these events, but I am also pleased to say that last spring quarter one of my digital art pieces were chosen to be presented as well.
Convenience has to be the biggest reason why I am attending a community college. The coast is low, the campus is local, and classes are much smaller. It would have been ideal to start at a four year university, however, at the time I could not afford it. My commute each day is less than twenty minutes and i think i have really benefited from enrolling here.
