James Trevor Oliver was born on the 27th May 1975 in Clavering, Essex, England. Oliver is famous for his many television shows and for his campaign against processed food given to children in national schools. Jamie had a passion for cooking since a very young age. His parents Trevor and Sally owned and ran their own pub/restaurant ‘The Cricketers’ in Clavering, Jamie’s home town. At the age of 8 Jamie was allowed to help out in the kitchen and he was so fascinated by the art of food. By 11 years old he was a very good vegetable prep chef. One of the main ingredients used in Jamie’s Italian dishes are tomatoes. He uses tomatoes in a variety of ways, from a simple dish of ‘Italian tomatoes’ to ‘Jamie’s classic tomato spaghetti’. He also has numerous pasta dishes as part of his Italian recipes. Although Jamie is famous for his Italian inspired dishes, it’s his classic, rustic and simple steak sarnie (from his Meals in 30 Minutes book) that remains his signature dish.
