Jane Austen may have had a quiet life ,but her words that flew out of her books were never quiet. Austen was born in Steven, Hampshire, England on December 16, 1775 and died in July 18, 1817. Her childhood was very educational. Her father, Rev. Austen believed in education even though society thought different. It was only after her father died that later on she started writing and publishing her best work. Even then she didn’t get the attention she deserved. She still managed to get through some situations that suppressed her talents, and when society doubted her ability to write, she never stopped writing until she died (Mulcahy).

Her father however didn’t think that was right for a woman not to get an education. Rev. Austen sent his girls to Abbey School of reading, but he could no longer pay their tuition. They had to dropout ,but Austen still continued her tutoring with her father. That short time spent at the school was the only formal education she got. When her father died in 1850 she began anonymously publishing her works. “...it was not until after her death that her brother Henry revealed to the public that she was an author” (Biography.com). She only did this because the society at the time thought women were just not as good as men. Therefore it is not worth the effort to even read their works. Austin did get some credit for her work in the long run. “While Austen received some accolades for her works while still alive with her first three novels garnering critical attention” (Biography.com). So she did get little attention at the end of her career. Some of the books she wrote were: Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Lady Susan, and Sense and Sensibility. Those are only some of the novels she wrote.
Austin may not have gotten a lot of attention during her lifetime. She did get justice at the end of the day. She showed us that it was okay to dream big and think big. Even if the odds are against you. Austin showed us that she was a woman of intelligence and humour. Though she was sly about it. She painted a picture of women that no one dreamed women would ever be. She managed to do that by simply writing words onto a page. She was a revolutionary in her own quiet way.
