The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is one of the most desired award halls for musicians young and old to be inducted into. From the Beach Boys to Michael Jackson this honor is on nearly every performer’s bucket list. However, to be inducted is a rather difficult accomplishment to acquire. There are many strict and intricate guidelines that an artist must meet. Janet Jackson should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame based on her accomplishments, groundbreaking work and influence to other artists.
In 1974 Janet started off her career as an actor performing in Vegas, Nevada at the age of seven. There she was discovered and cast onto the television show Good Times, then shortly afterwards she was recruited onto the show Diff’rent Strokes …show more content…

It seems as though nothing could happen that hasn’t already. This is partially is because Janet Jackson has already accomplished a great deal of game changers within her career. Soon after releasing her album Control, Jimmy Jam stated in an interview with MTV that “she’s gone from basically doing something her father suggested to really enjoying it and feeling confident about it” (Janet Jackson). Janet was becoming an icon in the pop world. Her new rise into the spotlight had her now being considered by People Magazine as “a trailblazer, fusing pop [with varied genres], raising the bar for music video choreography, speaking out about social injustice and breaking racial and sexual taboos” (Kahil). With new looks and new sounds that had not yet hit the music world, Janet made sure she left an impact. In 1993, Janet released her album Janet which not only introduced her to entirely new genres, but was her first mark as a strong, sexy women in the music industry. The Rolling Stone magazine issue that covered the album release featured her nude with her current boyfriend Rene Elizondo’s hands covering her chest. Janet Jackson is among the some most influential artists in popular music. Many artists have outspokenly listed Janet Jackson as one of the main influences in their music career. Artists like Rihanna, Britney Spears and P!nk have all followed in Jackson’s stiletto-heeled footsteps and shared some of her ideals and trademarks (Wang). Rihanna, a current figure in women of pop, has openly stated in multiple interviews that "she [Janet] was one of the first female pop icons that I could relate to” (Kahil) Britney Spears, a well know artist in today’s music industry, has relied on the influence of Janet Jackson to help her pave her own path through the music and performing world by not only the sound of her music but her costumes, performances and style as well (Britney Spears). Janet Jackson is known for her acceptance towards all people, no matter who or what they are. Ideals which have been carried out through her music and interviews (Janet Jackson Talks). An artist that has shadowed her in these ideals is the current pop artist P!nk, who openly stands for equal rights for all humans and has categorized Jackson as her one of her main influences (P!nk).
