January First written by Michael Schofield is an interesting book that gives me a new knowledge that children can have schizophrenia as well. Also, it is interesting to know how their parents are helping their children to deal with it. The story itself can raise awareness for everyone in the community that children can have schizophrenia especially for those who are not aware about it. The reason why she takes January to the hospital is that she cannot handle her anymore. January keeps hitting her and throwing things at her. Then, Mr. Schofield showed a sign of giving up too. As I read this part of the story, I start to realize that he is so tired of all the frustration he is experiencing. These frustrations are caused by his inability to do something to help his daughter deal with schizophrenia. These scenes in the story have proven that seeing your own daughter dealing with schizophrenia is heartbreaking by just thinking about it. They did not allow the disorder of January to ruin
