For example, at one point in the story, Ben shows that he is brave but doesn’t know it yet. For example, Ben states “”I gulped. “I’ve been here five minutes and I already have to face an entire platoon of enemy commandos?”(18-19). This excerpt from the text shows that he is scared, but he will persevere and won’t back out of his problem. That trait shows his real bravery.
One example from the book The Good Soldier that shows he has courage is in lines 106-109. The lines state, “‘Get a litter,’” “Cummings yelled to the ambulance crew. It is true that he showed some signs of bravery when he started talking to Soraya; however, he is very reluctant in admitting his wrongs, which does not make him courageous (as it is portrayed in the book). There’s a difference in being fearless and courageous.
