Everyday there are new health books and documents created that provide new insights into different diseases and due to Watson’s ability to analyze documents it can comprehend more than just one person to make more specific and personalized diagnosis. Watson has been used to diagnose patients, aid in the discovery of new drugs, and has helped in the correct management of medical documents. Watson merges its data analysis ability and data organization ability to diagnose patients and create personal treatments. Watson has manages patients documents to ensure that no important information is lost and so that it can analyze both the past history of a patient and their current condition to create a personalized care plan. However, experts have varying opinions on the use of Watson in healthcare due to the false promises made by IBM shown by recent studies. “A STAT investigation has found that the supercomputer isn’t living up to the lofty expectations IBM created for it. Perhaps the most stunning overreach is in the company’s claim that Watson for Oncology, through artificial intelligence, can sift through reams of data to generate new insights and identify, as an IBM sales rep put it, ‘even new approaches’ to cancer care. STAT found that the system doesn’t create new knowledge and is artificially intelligent only in the most rudimentary sense of the term” (Ross and Swetlitz). This illustrating that many experts believe that IBM has marketed Watson in a way that is too good to be true. In spite of that fact, we as a group believe that even though Watson may not be able to create new approaches, the technology within Watson will still allow doctors to get some important medical questions answered that will assist them in correctly diagnosing patients in a more efficient
