This research essay will give you a deeper understanding of Jeffery Dahmer and the psychology behind his killing. We will deep dive into the mind of Jeffrey Dahmer and compare his similarities and differences to those of other serial killers. For example, a lot of Jeffrey Dahmer's actions are similar to those of notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy. Dahmer and Gacy had similar childhoods in the way that they didn't have role model father figures and they were not nurtured or taught moral values. Dahmer and Gacy felt a need to have power over men because of the lack of power they felt in childhood at the hands of men. Jeffrey Dahmer was neglected as a child and he didn't feel like he had the power to make his father stay. Causing him to have deep issues with men leaving him and him craving an emotional connection. On the other hand, Gacy was abused by his father and didn't have the power to stand up to him. Which made him power-hungry for control over men. This is one of the examples of how these killers are alike but they are alike in many more ways than one. Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy are also both organized killers who picked their victims based on the factor that anyone would miss them or come looking for them. Jeffrey targeted gay black men based on the poor police system at the time and the lack of acceptance of homosexuals during that period. Yet Gacy targeted some homeless men knowing no one would come looking for them. Adding to the point of them being similar they also both were charming individuals and great pathological liars. Jeffrey lied to his neighbors about what the smell was coming from his apartment and he even convinced the police into leaving him alone when he had a dead body in the trunk. Gacy was supposed to be in prison for ten years but he charmed everyone there and only ended up getting eighteen months. They also both drugged and strangled their victims.
